Worship at Prince of Peace

Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, singing, "To the one seated on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might, forever and ever!"   (Revelation 5:13)

Worship is the central act of our lives as Lutheran Christians.  We understand all of our activities as flowing out of worship, and ending in worship.  At Prince of Peace we put care and love into planning our worship services, making God's Word for the day the central focus of all that happens in our worship time together.  Whether we are using a "high," more formal liturgy, or singing contemporary praise songs, the Holy Spirit lifts us up and breathes life into us when we gather together to sing praise to Christ our King!

At Prince of Peace, we offer three worship services weekly:

Saturday at 5:00 p.m. in the East (New) Fellowship Hall:  Weekly communion, casual dress and atmosphere, simple liturgy, songs from the hymnal, usually 25-50 people in attendance.

Sunday at 9:00 a.m. in the Main Sanctuary:  Communion on the first and third Sundays of each month (and also major festival Sundays), casual dress and atmosphere, full Lutheran liturgy with many internal variations from week to week, songs from the hymnal with a few contemporary songs on occasion, usually 170-230 people in attendance.

Sunday at 11:15 a.m. in the East (New) Fellowship Hall:  Weekly communion, casual dress and atmosphere, simple liturgy with more free prayers, contemporary praise songs, usually about 25 people in attendance.

OTHER SERVICES:

Christmas Eve Worship:  We offer two worship services on Christmas Eve; a large family candlelight service at 6:00 p.m. and a more quiet candlelight service at 11:00 p.m. with Holy Communion.  Both of these services are held in our Main Sanctuary.

Christmas Day Worship:  We celebrate the birth of the Newborn King on December 25th with a service of Holy Communion and many Christmas carols at 9:00 a.m. in the New (East) Fellowship Hall.

Worship During Lent:  During the season of Lent (the five weeks preceding Easter) we hold special services on Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m.  The idea of Lent, contrary to a popular impression, is not to make ourselves miserable.  Instead, we take courage in God's promises to us, so that we can face the challenges of life and make the changes we need to make with confidence and humility.  Lent is a beautiful season--a time of refreshment--and prepares us to appreciate the full meaning of the Resurrection Victory all the more at Easter!
