Here's what you and your family will discover at Prince of Peace in St. Joseph, IL
At Prince of Peace there are two weekend service times so that everyone can remember the Lord's Day and share in the Good News of Jesus Christ. You can always dress casually (but respectfully) whenever it is convenient for you to attend.
Weekly Holy Communion in the East Wing Fellowship Hall, Room 101. Enter on the east end of the building.
Worship in the main sanctuary (enter under the bell tower), with children's sermons, youth and adult choirs. Holy Communion on the first and third Sundays of the month and on special Sundays.
All baptized adults are welcome to receive Holy Communion at Prince of Peace, regardless of denomination or affiliation. Children who do not yet commune are welcome at the altar for a pastoral blessing. Prince of Peace facilities are all fully handicap accessible.
Prince of Peace shares the Good News through educational programs. Come share and learn more about God' Word.
Children, Teens and Adults have educational time Sunday mornings from 10:15 - 11:00 a.m. September through May. Children's Sunday School Opening begins at 10:15 a.m. in the West Fellowship Hall for 3yr. - 4th Grade.
Vacation Bible School in July or August is a popular program that continues to grow yearly where education and fellowship are offered.
For youth in grades 7-8 the structured confirmation program prepares youth to become committed Christian young adults. This starts every September.
Adult Bible Study is available for those interested in further biblical education.
Prince of Peace cares for those in need spiritually, physically, and emotionally, whether around the world or across the street. There are service projects, a prayer chain, involvement in the community food pantry and more, from community care to reaching out worldwide. We work on Global missions through work with Lutheran World Relief and the World Hunger Appeal, and through our Central Southern Illinois Synod, ELCA, with missions in Madagascar. Our companion Synod is Ambovombe of the Tolagnaro Region.
Family oriented activities are offered through the year with game nights, concerts, sporting events, potlucks, high school activities, POP plus (for our mature family members), POP Kids groups, and other fun activities. Come join the fun. It is easy to become a member of Prince of Peace. Just attend the next New Member Classes offered.
