Seeking to follow Christ's compassionate example, we at Prince of Peace care for those in need spiritually, physically, and emotionally, whether around the world or across the street. We support regular service projects, a prayer chain, involvement in the community food pantry and more, from community care to reaching out with God’s love worldwide.
We support missionaries with Lutheran Bible Translators, the North American Lutheran Church, and Campus Crusade International. We regularly partner with agencies like Lutheran World Relief and Lutheran Disaster Response to help people around the world who are facing hunger, poverty, and oppression. Every two years, we have hosted a meal packing event at our congregation at which more than 50,000 meals-in-bags are prepared for people in need, both in East Central Illinois and in Africa.
Our confirmation students participate in local service projects each month, including collecting and wrapping gifts for the children of parents who are incarcerated. Many of our youths, on their confirmation day, say that the service projects have been some of their most rewarding experiences coming through our confirmation program.
Our high school youths participate in an annual “Workcamp” mission trip where they travel to different locations in the U.S., and spend a week making repairs on the homes of people in need.
